w  Introduction of the Department

Realizing the prevalence of leisure concept of our countrymen and the dire need for professional manpower in leisure businesses, Chaoyang University of Technology, based on the ideal of stressing both theory and practice in teaching, had established the first leisure business management department in Taiwan’s polytechnic system in 1997. In 1998, it had established the country’s first master’s program in leisure business management, and in 1999, it had established master’s program for on-the-jog students. For the past twelve years alumni of the school equipped with professional skills and enthusiasm to serve people have occupied important positions in leisure businesses in Taiwan and overseas.

w  Goal of Department

1.    Training low- and mid-level managers for leisure business.

2.    Training professionals in leisure and tourism industries with in-depth knowledge, international landscape, and devotion to promote the said two local industries.

3.    Actively strengthening academic research capacity of professors at the department, nourish teaching resources, and accumulated clout to promote industrial development.

4.    Offering various study programs with unique features for students and professors to study in order to enhance their second specialty.

5.    Establishing research and consultation centers of different functions, offering management and consultation services to industries related to leisure and recreation, and furthering cooperation between the school and enterprises in order to establish a closer link between academic specialties and actual practices of enterprises.
